(KMOV.com) -- A Metro-East mother was told her daughter with Down Syndrome would never amount to anything, but a photo on Facebook sparked a special experience for the duo.
Sue Brown took a photo of her daughter Karrie on her first day of school and put it on Facebook. Sue said they were showing off one of her new outfits.
When Sue returned home from work, she said she had emails from parents of other children with Down Syndrome asking where Sue bought Karrie’s clothes.
Wet Seal is Karrie’s favorite store and Sue set up a Facebook page with Karrie wearing different outfits from Wet Seal every day.
“Well, she wants to be a model for Wet Seal,” Sue said, “Maybe we can catch their attention this way.”
Wet Seal told the Browns if Karrie could get 10,000 likes by Friday they would have a surprise for Karrie.
Karrie was able to get 11,000 likes by Thursday.
Wet Seal surprised Karrie and Sue by flying them out to California for a photo shoot.
“She comes to life when the camera is on her,” Sue said, “I was told by this geneticist to never expect anything from her.”
Instead, Karrie has blossomed.
