(KMOV) – Authorities hope surveillance video will help catch five smash-and-grab thieves who crashed their truck through a pawn shop in north St. Louis early Tuesday morning.

Authorities said a witness saw several suspects back a stolen Dodge Ram pickup truck into the west side of Lee’s Pawn and Jewelry in the 4100 block of Dr. Martin Luther King Police around 5 a.m.

According to police, the suspects got out of the truck and ran to a dark-colored parked in front of the business. One of the suspects ran back to the building.

Authorities said that’s when the witness called police. But by the time officers arrived, the getaway car was nowhere to be seen.

Police said the owner of the business arrived at the business and said nothing appeared to have been taking.

The investigation is ongoing.
