(KMOV) -- Two shooting suspects were in custody and another at large following a police chase that ended with a crash in north St. Louis Monday night.

Authorities said the suspects shot a 37-year-old man near the intersection of Beacon and Lillian around 10:45 p.m. They then fled the scene in a silver Chevrolet vehicle. The victim ran on foot to the 4900 block of Davidson and was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

Officers spotted the suspects’ vehicle and gave chase until the suspects crashed into a streetlight, mailbox and fire hydrant near the intersection of Veronica and Halls Ferry.

Two suspects were immediately apprehended while a third one fled the scene. One of the suspects was taken to the hospital with injuries sustained in the crash. The third suspect remains on the loose.

According to police, officers found an assault rifle inside the suspects’ car. But authorities said a handgun was used in the initial shooting. That gun has not been located.

Additional details were not immediately available.
