MONTEREY BAY -- A couple of kayakers in California have a big new friend – a 40-foot whale to be exact. They shared a story that is hard to believe. Thankfully, a photo confirms it all!
An 80,000-pound Humpback whale swam right next to one of the kayakers in Monterey Bay while her shocked friend captured the moment.
“When I took the photo I was really scared, well, I didn’t know what was going to happen to Karen. When I got back to land, I realized that was probably the best photo I’ve ever seen,” the kayaker said.
Experts say the whales are just out looking for lunch; particularly the anchovies in Monterey Bay’s submarine canyon.
