2 Charged after multiple apartments broken into, stolen from in U City

(KMOV) – Two men face charges for allegedly breaking into and stealing from two University City apartments on separate days in early December.

Johnnie Jenkins, 43 was charged Dec. 20 with second-degree burglary and two counts of stealing over $500, while Eric Oliphant, 31, was charged Dec. 19 with first-degree burglary and two counts of stealing over $500.

According to court documents, Jenkins told police he and some others broke into an apartment in the 6640 block of Kingsbury Ave. on Dec. 5 and stole several items, including a 60-inch television, a Canon camera, a laptop and a guitar.

Police say on Dec. 8 Oliphant acted as a lookout while another person went into an apartment in the 6630 block of Kingsbury and took an iPod, backpack, pair of sunglasses and a digital camera, among other items.

Both suspects were later arrested after an investigation. It was not known if the cases were connected.
