(Missouri Football App) – Mizzou defensive end Michael Sam was honored Wednesday with his fifth All-America selection, making him the second unanimous All-American in school history.

Wednesday’s Football Writers Association of America honor came after All-America selections from the Walter Camp Football Foundation, Sporting News, Associated Press, and America Football Coaches Association.

Sam also won the AP’s SEC Defensive Player of the Year award after leading the SEC in both quarterback sacks (10.5) and tackles-for-loss (18.0). He ranks in the Top 10 nationally in both of those categories.

Sam is the 33rd first team All-American for Missouri, and the seventh under Gary Pinkel.

He is joined by fellow senior E.J. Gaines in All-America honors, as Gaines was a second team selection by the FWAA.

Sam and Gaines will play one final game together when the Tigers take on Oklahoma State on Friday, January 3 in the Cotton Bowl.
