(KMOV) – A nonprofit community center aimed at helping people was the victim of thieves Monday night.
The LGBT Center in the Grove neighborhood of St. Louis was robbed overnight.
Thieves reportedly got away with electronics and other items used to comfort people in times of crisis, especially during the holidays.
When asked if center officials believed it was a targeted break-in, board member Christine Elbert said, “We don’t believe we were a physical target based on any hate crime. We just think we were the victim of robbery and we are trying to come back from that the best we can.”
The center relies solely on donations and volunteers to run. They say people have already stepped up to the plate to give them a helping hand.
