(KMOV.com) -- With all the attention the Knockout Game is getting, a Metro East lawmaker is introducing a bill that would increase punishments.

Knockout Game cases have been reported in St. Louis and several other big cities across the nation.

It’s when someone walks up on another person and strikes them in the face with the intent of rendering them unconscious.

Illinois State Representative Dwight Kay wants the assault to be a felony carrying a three to seven year sentence.

Teens 15 or older could be charged as adults.
