LEADINGTON, MO. — The mayor of the eastern Missouri town of Leadington has resigned following a dispute with the city clerk.
The Daily Journal newspaper in Park Hills, Mo. reports that Mayor Troy Dickens resigned Saturday.
Problems began Thursday when Dickens and City Clerk Cindy Leimkuehler had a confrontation at City Hall. Leimkuehler resigned at the time, and the mayor had her escorted from the building.
The clerk later changed her mind, and asked aldermen to reinstate her. They did. Meanwhile, Dickens says he was instructed by aldermen to stay out of City Hall until a special meeting could be held.
In his resignation letter, Dickens wrote that he took the reinstatement of Leimkuehler as a vote of no confidence for his ability to make management decisions.
