(KMOV.com) – An employee of the Siteman Cancer Center has been charged with stealing a patient’s iPad.
According to police, 48-year-old Jennifer Whinery took the device after a patient left it in the hospital waiting room in mid-November.
After realizing she had left the iPad behind, the victim began to track the device with her computer and discovered it was somewhere in the hospital parking lot.
The security footage from the hospital was reviewed and Whinery was seen on camera taking the iPad to her car.
When police arrested her Whinery said she planned to return the iPad to the rightful owner, but panicked when she heard the owner wanted to press charges for theft and took the device to her car.
She is charged with stealing more than $500 and was been held on a $10,000 bond.
