(KMOV) – School will resume Monday following a week long teachers’ strike in the Mount Olive School District.

Teachers throughout the district started to strike on Dec. 9 when the union and school district couldn’t agree on a new three-year contract.

After picking for a week, all 39 teachers in the district approved a contract offer. A representative for the teachers’ union told News 4 that the new contract meets the salary and retirement demands that they wanted. The superintendent would not detail what changed but says that both sides made compromises.

The board has not announced when or how the five days of school that were missed will be made up. Board members should officially ratify the new contract Wednesday night.

The district contains about 500 students.
