(KMOV.com) – Police said one person died after a wrong way crash on I-44 Friday night.
Police said the accident happened just before 7:30 pm. Authorities said 79-year-old St. Louis resident Margie O’Shaughnessy was driving east in the westbound lanes of I-44 near Bowles Avenue when she hit a car driven by 28-year-old Michael Gavosto. Police said O’Shaughnessy’s vehicle then slammed into the highway’s sidewall.
Authorities said a car driven by 46-year-old Timothy Aubuchon, which was behind Gavosto’s vehicle, then swerved and hit a vehicle driven by 65-year-old Suzanne Sloan.
Police said O’Shaughnessy was pronounced dead on the scene; Gavosto was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries, and Sloan was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. Authorities said all four victims were wearing seatbelts.
