(KMOV) – A wanted criminal is accused of stealing thousands of dollars from dozens of victims called News 4 to explain his actions and why he ran from the law.
Damon Hunter, also known as Jermaine Jenkins, is accused of taking money for home repairs but never completing the contracted work.
Bill Smith with the Better Business Bureau said records show Hunter had a history of taking money and not doing the work. Just a few months ago, Hunter was arrested on three separate theft warrants from 2010.
He paid $1,000 bond to get out of jail but not by his own admittance, he skipped town, missing a scheduled court hearing.
When asked if he plans to ever repay the thousands he owes his victims, Hunter said, “yes they will, that is my goal as we speak.”
His victims believe he should be behind bars to pay for his crimes. “He doesn’t need to take money from people and get away with it scot-free,” said Angela Rosenberger.
Hunter now faces no bond and another court hearing next week.
