(KMOV) – The Normandy School District will meet with state educational leaders and the community Wednesday night to discuss student transfers.
The meeting will take place at the Normandy High School gymnasium at 6:30 p.m.
At the start of the school year, nearly 1,200 students transferred from the Normandy district.
The current law allows students from unaccredited districts, like Normandy, to transfer to nearby, better performing districts. The unaccredited districts must cover the costs.
Several Missouri lawmakers have proposed legislation dealing with the transfer law for their legislative session starting in January.
On Tuesday, the Missouri Supreme Court ruled to enforce the student transfer law in the Kansas City school district.
In November, the district held a similar meeting in which nearly 200 people attended.
