(KMOV.com) -- Hundreds of children got to meet Santa Saturday at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois.
News 4 was there helping to deliver hundreds of gifts for military families as part of our holiday gift drive with the Cardinals and the Red Cross. News 4 This Morning’s Claire Kellett also took part in the holiday celebration.
She talked with the commander of the 375th Air Mobility Wing, Colonel Kyle Kremer, about how special this is for families who sacrifice year-round.
“Whether it’s what you see in Afghanistan or humanitarian aid like the tragedy in the Philippines, parents are pulled away short notice, away for holidays, birthdays, other significant family events,” Colonel Kremer said, “So when have opportunity to get everyone together still celebrate the holidays without a parent but with the mom or dad still here and other families in similar situations.”
Fredbird also made an appearance at the event.
The military families expressed great appreciation for all of the community support.
