EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (AP) -- A southwestern Illinois woman who admitted defrauding more than $440,000 from her former employer has been ordered to spend two years and nine months in federal prison.

Thirty-five-year-old Stacy Jo Kanallakan of Jerseyville pleaded guilty in May to one charge of scheming to commit wire fraud.

Federal prosecutors say Kanallakan embezzled the funds between September 2005 and October 2011 while working as the bookkeeper and accountant for Telsar Laboratories Inc. in Madison County.

As part of her sentence imposed Thursday in East St. Louis, Kanallakan must spend three years on post-prison supervised release and repay her Telsar Laboratories roughly $442,000.
