ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) – A St. Louis man was arrested Wednesday following a string of Central West End armed robberies Tuesday night.
Dekeno Simmons, 20, is accused of three attempted armed robberies on Tuesday night.
The first alleged robbery happened on Tuesday just after 11 p.m. in the 200 block of Euclid Ave. Police said a man and a woman were approached by Simmons, who was carrying a gun. That suspect demanded the pair’s property, taking a wallet and cell phone.
“I’m surprised,” said Amanda Bosco, a Central West End resident. “I wouldn’t think that would happen around here and it kind of makes me sad.”
Ten minutes after the first robbery, a second robbery allegedly took place in the 5500 block of Pershing Ave., just a mile away from the first robbery. Police said in that incident, a 23-year-old man wearing a backpack was approached from behind while walking, then held at gunpoint. Police said the victim in that case was able to get away and call police.
About an hour later, a third victim was held at gunpoint near the intersection of Pershing Avenue and Taylor Avenue.
Dekeno Simmons is charged with robbery, attempted robbery, and armed criminal action.
No one was injured in any of the alleged robberies.
