(KMOV) -- TJX Companies is recalling "ecoato" Sweet Paprika Powder after a spot test of the product revealed the presence of salmonella.
The specific product is in a 160-gram, light green, tin package marked as lot #8147 with an expiration date of October 2015.
According to TJX, about 150 unites were sold between June 2014 and July 2014 in Alabama, Connecticut, Washington, D.C, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.
Further sale of the powder has been suspended while the FDA continues its investigation.
No illnesses have been reported.
Salmonella has the potential to cause serious and fatal infections with symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, fever, and diarrhea. In rare cases, it can also cause arterial infections, endocarditis, and arthritis.
