Belleville, Ill. (KMOV) – Charges have been filed after a shooting in Belleville on Monday.

Police arrested 22-year-old Leon J. Venson, Jr. of Belleville on Thursday. Venson is charged with one count of aggravated battery with a firearm and one count of aggravated discharge of a firearm.

Authorities said multiple shots were fired in 7700 block of Main Street around 2:30 p.m. Monday. When police arrived, they said they found the victim had been shot in the lower body. He was later taken to a hospital.

Venson is currently being held on a $250,000 bond.

Authorities believe Venson did not work alone and are working to identify additional suspects.
