By now, I'm sure you've heard about the massive crib recall. It's the biggest one in U.S. history. If you didn't get all of the details, you can read about it here. Basically, 2.1 million cribs with a drop side have been recalled. They were recalled because the drop rail can separate from the crib, making it possible for a baby to get stuck between the rail and the matress, which can lead to suffocation. It has caused the death of a few children in the U.S. That just breaks my heart!
This is really scary for us, moms! If you have one of these cribs, I strongly encourage you to get your baby out of the crib until you get a new one or, until you get the repair kit that's being offered. My son's crib was recalled eariler this year and my husband and I decided that it was just not worth the risk to keep our precious little Jude in that crib any longer. We immediately moved him to his pack-n-play until we could get the new one. We then took the crib back to Target (where we got it) and they gave us an in store credit to get a new crib. It was not a fun experience. We had to find a new crib, put it together, get rid of the old one...a big hassle. But, it was totally worth it. I'm not taking any chances when it comes to my son's safety and I hope you won't either.
Moms, tell me what you think about this. Did your kids' crib get recalled? Did you have a hard time getting it fixed or getting a new one? Were you able to get through on the hotline to get your questions answered? Post your comments below or e-mail me: firstname.lastname@example.org
