Festus: Craig Davidson sent to jail on child porn charges

News release from the office of the U. S. Attorney

St. Louis, MO: Craig Davidson has been sentenced to 151 months in prison for production of child pornography, Acting United States Attorney Michael W. Reap announced today.

Davidson, 41, Festus, MO, pleaded guilty on September 3, 2009 to two felony counts of production of child pornography.  In 2001, Davidson video taped two children under the age of eighteen engaged in sexually explicit conduct.  He appeared today for sentencing before United States District Judge Rodney W. Sippel.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice. Led by United States Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division's Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims. Reap commended the work on the case by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, the Regional Computer Crimes Education and Enforcement Group; and Assistant United States Attorney Allison Behrens, who handled the case for the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
