ST. LOUIS (KMOV) -- A petition drive is underway in St. Louis to force a referendum on a north St. Louis redevelopment plan.
A group called the Committee for More Responbile St. Louis Goverument hopes to gather 5,600 signatures by Dec. 11.
It wants residents to have a chance to vote on the McKee development project approved by the city.
Organizers have questions about developer Paul McKee and his plan to redevelop 1,600 acres.
"We reject Paul McKee as a developer for the northside. He's shown himself to be an irresponsible and negligent property owner, and we do not want our dollars going to fund this land-clearance project,” said petition organizer Sheila Rendon
The group will gather Saturday morning at the Shining Light Pentecostal Church on Sheridan Avenue to begin gathering signatures.
