National Adoption Month

Remember what it felt like to fall asleep in the car when you were a child? Safe...headed home with family who loved you and whom you loved.  Your assurance lay less in what was said and more in the simple familiarity of family.  And doesn't every child deserve the comfort of a loving home?

There are close to 500,000 children in the United States in foster care.  More than 130,000 of these children are available for adoption and waiting to be adopted.  November is National Adoption Month.

When children enter foster care, it is through no fault of their own.  They may be permanently removed from their homes as victims of child abuse, neglect or abandonment.  They are often the small victims in our most heartbreaking stories.

One of the leading adoption programs in the Saint Louis area is Lutheran Family and Children's Services of Missouri.  Last year, LFCS placed 127 children with adoptive families.  They would love to create even more permanent families this year.
