Dozens of area shoppers at Hancock Fabrics got a little something extra with their purchases... fraudulent withdrawals from their bank accounts! They did nothing wrong, and the U. S. Secret Service is investigating. Today I talked to experts about what 'is' within your power to do to try and prevent debit card fraud: Don't have an obvious pin, don't keep your pin in your wallet with your debit card, keep track of your receipts, constantly monitor your bank account for improper activity, and check your credit report.
There are also regulations governing reimbursement of money into your account. You should immediately notify your financial institution upon discovery of any fraud.
