All area St. Louis Post offices to remain open. This comes after the Postal Service picked hundreds of post offices to close around the country. Earlier this year the Postal Service picked 29 post offices to close here locally. That number would later decrease to nine and now the Postal Service is saying no post offices will close in the St. Louis area. The Postal Service is facing a seven billion dollar budget deficit. Since then the department has cut jobs, increased the price of stamps by two cents, and cut the number of mail boxes in neighborhoods. Many say the recession and use of the Internet has resulted in a sharp decline in the volume of mail each year. Although no post offices will close here in the St. Louis the postal service will still look to close 300 post offices around the country. Below is a list of post offices that will now stay open here in St. Louis City and County.
