A study by the Pew Center on the States found that Illinois, Arizona, Florida, Michigan, Nevada, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island and Wisconsin are joining California in nearing financial disaster.
The think tank's report is titled: Beyond California: States in Financial Peril.
It says that Illinois is among 10 states that are in the worst shape, budget-wise.
Illinois has carried deficits every year for at least the last eights and continues to rely heavily on borrowing money to meet pension obligations. Illinois is also behind in paying over $3 billion in bills.
