Police looking for shoeless man running around in Bridgeton

(KMOV.com) --  Police in Bridgeton, Missouri are looking for a suspect who fled when officers interrupted an alleged drug deal in a parking lot near the Economy Inn and Suites.

According to authorities, the incident happened around 11 p.m. near the intersection of Natural Bridge and St. Charles Rock roads.

Two officers responded to a call about a suspicious person in a parking lot.  When officers arrived, they found two men.  Police believe one or both of the men were involved in some kind of drug deal.

When questioned by the officers, one of the men gave false information about his identity.  Not long after that, the man took off running into a nearby wooded area.  The other suspect was taken into custody and questioned.  He was released after police determined he was not involved in any suspicious activity.

Authorities activated a search team to locate the suspect who ran.  A police helicopter with a thermal camera was called in to help search for the suspect.  Despite their efforts, they were unable to locate the man.  Police said the suspect may still be in the same area, but they will have to wait until daylight to resume the search.

Police describe the suspect as a 5' 7", 150 pound black male.  During the incident, he was wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans.  He was not wearing shoes.
