Police catch man suspected of assaulting Metro-East woman in her home

(KMOV) -- Police say they have aprehended the man who they believe broke into a Brooklyn, Illinois woman's home and assaulted her Wednesday morning.

Police said they captured Joshua Harvey, 26, in Washington Park later on Wednesday morning.  Officials said they expect charges to be filed at a later date.  The investigation continues.

According to authorities, Harvey attacked a woman around 1:20 a.m. at an apartment complex in the 600 block of North 6th Street.

Police said the woman was in her apartment watching TV when she heard a car.  A man, who the victim recognized and police later identified as Harvey, forced his way into her apartment and hit her multiple times. Harvey then ran away on foot.

The victim did not suffer serious injuries and did not need to go to the hospital.
