ST. LOUIS (KMOV) -- A mother is searching for answers after her daughter was shot in the face with an air soft gun during class at North County Tech on February 24.
The mother contacted News 4 when she says she couldn’t get the district to respond to the incident or to assist in medical treatment for her 17-year-old daughter, who may need plastic surgery.
Air soft guns are used in the law enforcement classes at North County Tech. The district cites confidentiality regulations, and says it can’t say much about the incident.
However, one teacher has been removed from the classroom and a substitute has been put in place during the investigation. No students are facing any disciplinary action.
The district says it is now working with the family.
In addition to the teacher’s removal, the entire law enforcement program is being evaluated. The district says its programs are routinely looked at, but in light of the injury, they are going to make sure the law enforcement curriculum is serving the needs of the students.
