HARTFORD, Mo. (AP) -- Two people are dead after they and four children were thrown from a sport utility vehicle that overturned in eastern Missouri.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol identified the victims as 28-year-old Stacey Gooden and 35-year-old Barry Maddox, both of Unionville.
The accident happened Friday afternoon as the SUV was headed east on U.S. 136 near the Putnam County town of Hartford.
The patrol said Maddox was driving and that he overcorrected when he crossed the center line. The SUV went off the right side of the road and overturned several times. None of the six people inside were restrained.
A 2-year-old girl, twin 7-year-old boys and a 10-year-old boy suffered injuries that ranged from serious to moderate. The twins were Maddox's sons, and the other two children were Gooden's.
