Police take organist into custody during church service in north St. Louis

ST. LOUIS (KMOV) – Police have offered an apology to members of a north St. Louis church after they arrested the church’s organist for a suspected theft and possession of drug paraphernalia during a service.

The man wanted by police was the organist, 51, who was taking a break in Zion Temple’s cafeteria on Sunday morning when two police officers arrested him.

The sounds of the arrest were easily heard by church members through the collapsible wall and shocked the members inside who were worshipping at the time.

Police, who were tipped-off by the suspect’s family, did issue an apology to the church members who say the police should have waited until church was finished.
