(KMOV) – A local non-profit organization is helping to break the cycle of poverty for those searching for a place to work.
Connection to Success provides hope, resources and a plan through a variety of programs and services.
“We help them find jobs and keep the jobs and move forward to become economically independent,” Development Director Amie Bossi said.
The program started with women donating clothes at the Dress for Success Midwest Boutique. The clothes would then be given to clients for job interviews or for work purposes.
The organization also has a social enterprise called “Sweet Success” where clients are employed to bake and sell cookies.
“Since I have been out I have accomplished a lot. I just keep going,” Samantha Smith, a former client, said. “All the effort I put into having my life messed up…I put that much effort into changing my life and doing what I need to do. I have accomplished getting my license back, getting my own apartment, getting my daughter.”
Smith, a reformed-addict, began with Sweet Success and worked her way into a full-time staff position from transitional employment.
