CRESTWOOD, Missouri (KMOV) – A warrant has been issued for a suspect accused of setting up a methamphetamine lab in Crestwood and trying to run over several officers with his car.
The charges stem from a bust at a meth lab in the 700 block of Fieldcrest around 11:30 a.m. on Friday.
Authorities said officers were standing in the street when the suspect drove by and tried to run them over.
Police caught him and recovered a hand gun they believe he threw out the window.
The suspect, who now faces second-degree assault charges, remains in the St. Louis County jail. Police say they are waiting on test results before they can determine whether drug charges will also be filed.
Undercover drug officers were called to the scene on Friday and suited up in Haz-Mat gear and oxygen tanks to handle the manufactured meth. They hauled out tanks, bags, boxes and bottles, which were taken to an off-site location in Franklin County to be properly discarded.
Police said at least a dozen homes were evacuated for about two and a half hours because officials were concerned chemicals coming from the house were dangerous.
