MURPHYSBORO, Illinois -- Police in the southern Illinois city of Murphysboro are investigating the death of a man they believe was electrocuted while trying to steal copper wire with two other suspects.
Authorities responding to a report of an electrocution early Monday found the body of the 26-year-old victim in an abandoned manufacturing building.
A 22-year-old suspect was treated at a hospital for injuries not considered life-threatening, while a third suspect wasn’t hurt.
Police say the suspect who was killed apparently touched an active high-voltage supply line.
The men’s names weren’t released. There’s no word on any charges.
