(KMOV) – The Transportation Security Administration is accepting applications for 30 new positions at Lambert Airport, which authorities say will cut down the wait time for passengers in lines.
The TSA says it wants to beef up security at Lambert after seeing a 3% increase in passenger volume in 2011.
They plan to add 30 positions to keep up with the increased airport traffic. The new staffers will be positioned at the baggage and security checkpoints.
TSA authorities say demands have changed recently; passengers are now bringing more carry-on luggage to avoid baggage fees which adds time to scanning the additional items.
Lambert officials say the priority is about cutting down the wait time which is anywhere from 5 to 25 minutes. And, he insists the quality of work won’t be sacrificed.
The positions are expected to be filled up by May.
