Edwardsville, IL (KMOV.com) – A bus driver for the Edwardsville School District has died after having a heart attack while taking to students to school on Wednesday morning.
Authorities say Pamela Crump, 60, of Edwardsville was taking students to Edwardsville High School when she started experiencing chest pains and shortness of breath.
Crump managed to safely pull the bus off the road and contact her dispatcher before losing consciousness. Students on the bus came to her aid, communicating with the dispatcher and 911 operators.
Authorities say Crump went into cardiac arrest after paramedics arrived. She was rushed to Oliver Anderson Hospital where the medical staff was able to revive her, but she later died.
