Teacher stops cooperating with authorities in alleged Cahokia attack

Cahokia, Illinois (KMOV.com) – Police in Cahokia, Illinois are trying to piece together exactly what happened and what might have led to three students attacking a female teacher, but now the teacher has stopped cooperating with police.

Police tell News 4 the alleged assault happened Wednesday afternoon just after 1 p.m. while classes were in session.

Following the attack the teacher notified administrators who then called police. Two male students were later arrested at their homes; a third student turned himself in.  The individuals are being held pending charges of felony sex abuse.

Investigators say that the teacher’s was not seriously injured in the attack and did not go to the hospital.

Authorities are not releasing specifics about the nature of the attack, but are reporting now that the teacher has stopped cooperating with investigators, causing the investigation to take an unexpected turn.

All three suspects have been released from custody.

Police tell News 4 that they are receiving a number of anonymous tips and detectives are trying to determine fact from fiction.

The teacher is currently on administrative leave.
