(BaseballStL) -- Cards utility man Daniel Descalso tells me it was a little uncomfortable last year when he was sent into games in the late innings as a defensive replacement for David Freese.
Freese didn't want to come out of the games obviously, and was disappointed whenever Descalso would jog out to third base to replace him.
That might not happen much this year. Descalso is in the competition for the job at second base. He could win the everyday job there, though he'll most likely be used as a utility player again.
Freese is probably hoping Descalso wins the job at second.
