BELLEVILLE, Ill. (AP) -- A five-time felon from southwestern Illinois has been ordered to spend 45 years in prison in a 2009 killing over a heroin deal.
Darius Jenkins, 35, was sentenced Wednesday in St. Clair County on his December conviction of first-degree murder. Authorities say Jenkins fatally shot Dominic Brown in the neck in an alley in Washington Park on July 27, 2009.
Investigators say the killing resulted from a dispute over heroin.
Jenkins must serve the entire sentence without the prospect of parole.
His previous convictions were related to burglary, drugs and weapons offenses.
