Godfrey warehouse destroyed in Tuesday morning fire

(KMOV.com) -- A former storage facility for a Godfrey, Illinois business was consumed by fire Tuesday morning leaving nothing behind but a pile of rubble.
The fire started around 3:00 a.m. at the former Hood's warehouse in the 6700 block of Montclaire, firefighters said. According to reports, the building was vacant and has been closed for about a year. Firefighters told News 4 the building was fully engulfed when they arrived. Fire crews had the fire under control by 6:00 a.m.
The building collapsed as a result of the fire and is considered to be a total loss. Investigators are now looking into the cause of the fire and they say it is suspicious since the building did not have any utilities on.
No injuries were reported for those fighting the fire.
