(KMOV)—A Sullivan teen was killed after her car crashed through a cable barrier on Interstate 44 early Sunday morning.

Police say two people were in the car when it left the highway on westbound I-44 just east of Highway W around 2:30 a.m.

The driver, 18-year-old Tianna Stockley, lost control of the car, veered off the roadway and crashed through a cable barrier. The car then overturned and came to a stop on the eastbound lane of I-44.

Stockley was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers say Stockley was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

The passenger, 18-year-old Hunter Bradshaw, was taken to an area hospital with moderate injuries. He was wearing a seat belt.

Police are investigating the cause of this accident.
