(KMOV) – The Gateway Chapter of Sudden Cardiac Arrest Association, which mission is to increase awareness of heart health, is holding its second annual trivia night Saturday at SSM St. Clare Health Center in Fenton. The mission is to raise money for non-profit organizations to help pay for AEDs- automated external defibrillators.

The two non-profits being recognized by the trivia night is The Metro East Montessori School and South Telegraph Christian Church. Officials say both organizations cannot afford to purchase defibrillators which are very expensive.

According to Sudden Cardiac Arrest Association, sudden cardiac arrest kills nearly 300,000 Americans each year, which is around 1,000 per day. Medical and patient-advocacy organizations have long promoted placement of AEDs in public settings as a means to increase the likelihood of SCA survival.

The doors open at 6:30 pm and the presentation of the AED’s will be before the first question at 7pm.  For more information, contact Linda Dickson at 314-443-1011.
