BELLEVILLE, Ill. (KMOV.com)- A Belleville man received a prison sentence of over four years on Friday afternoon for charges involving Bank Wire, Tax Fraud and Aggravated Identity Theft.
Samuel Hood, 58, received 27 months on Bank Wire and Tax Fraud, and an additional 24 months for Aggravated Identity Theft. Hood must also pay a $400 Special Assessment and over $102,000 in restitution to the United States.
Hood received his sentencing after pleading guilty to making false claims against the United States seeking fraudulant tax refund, and also admitting to using another person's identity to make an internet application for a payday loan.
After serving the 51 month prison sentence, Hood will also have to serve a five year supervised release.
