Cause not known for downed wires in Madison County

(KMOV) -- Some residents in Madison County may have experienced power outages late Thursday night.
Madison County Sheriff confirms that the power outages were caused by downed power lines along Illinois Route 4. According to authorities there were around 4,000 homes without power.
Power was restored just before midnight. Authorities are looking in to how the wires were knocked off the pole. Illinois State Police officials said they do not receive any reports of vehicles hitting utility poles.
