(KMOV.com) -- The mother who police say wrapped up her newborn baby in beach towels and left him behind an Ellisville, Missouri home will not yet face charges.
On Thursday morning around 7:45, a woman left her Ellisville residence in the 100 block of West Ridge Parc Lane to walk her dog when she discovered the baby under a pine tree at the corner of the house. The Ellisville police chief said the newborn's umbilical cord was still attached.
Police later found the 19-year-old mother at a local hospital around 3 p.m. She was being treated for post-childbirth issues. There is still no word on the mother's motive for leaving leaving the baby.
The mother is still in the hospital, but police say she has not been arrested or charged with anything yet.
Mercy Hospital officials report that the baby is stable. They are hoping to begin bottle feeding the baby boy very soon.
