Police said the abduction happened around 8 a.m. in the Troy area. According to reports, the 19-year-old woman was driving her car when she noticed her trunk was open. She pulled over to fix it and that's when she told police a man wearing an orange coat and black ski mask jumped out. The woman and the man struggled. The victim was eventually wrestled into the trunk of the car. The suspect then got in the car and drove away from the area.
At a gas station in Wright City, the female victim was able to escape after pulling an emergency truck release handle to open the trunk. The woman ran to a good Samaritan who helped her notify authorities.
The victim told police she thought the suspect was her ex-boyfriend who police have identified as Jon Paul Heinz. Authorities said Heinz has a temporary restraining order against him since he tried to abduct the victim a short time ago.
Police arrested Heinz in the Bloomington, Illinois area on Thursday afternoon. Heinz has been charged for kidnapping and is being held on a $50,000 bond.
