(KMOV) -- A parking lot sweeper rolled down an embankment after hitting a guardrail at a Sam's Club in Crestwood, Missouri Wednesday morning.

The accident happened around 3:45 a.m at the Sam's club located at 10248  Big Bend Road.  According to reports, a worker was driving a white pick-up truck with a sweeping attachment when he lost control of the vehicle and hit a guardrail.  The force of the impact sent the truck over the guardrail and down an embankment.

The driver became trapped inside the truck.  It took Mehlville and Crestwood fire and rescue crews crews more than an hour to get him out.  Authorities said he did not suffer an serious injuries and appeared to be alright.  He was taken to an area hospital as a precaution.

The truck was totaled in the accident.  Officials on the scene said it is hard to believe the driver was not seriously injured after seeing the damage to the truck.
