Customers left without refunds after Western Tax Service arrests

(KMOV)--More trouble for customers of a north St. Louis County tax service. We've told you how some customers of Western Tax Service claim they were threatened by employees if the customers didn't cash their refund checks and give the business $1000. Three employees were arrested and charged with attempted first degree armed robbery and armed criminal action.

 After the arrests, the business closed, leaving some customers' checks locked up inside and other customers unable to get their refunds because the checks are scheduled to be sent to the business and not directly to them. We contacted the IRS and they're advising customers to call their Taxpayer Advocacy Service or visit one of the area Taxpayer Assistance Centers.

 IRS workers will be able to change where the customers' checks are sent. For checks that have already been sent, the IRS will cancel them and send out new ones, directly to the customer or their bank.
