The following recalls have been announced:
-- About 113,000 Blue Ember gas grills in the U.S. and Canada. The gas grills, made in China and imported by Fiesta Gas Grills, of Dickson, Tenn., are recalled because the hose of the gas tank can get too close to the firebox and be exposed to heat, posing a fire hazard to consumers. In the U.S., Fiesta received 161 reports of grill fires, including nine injuries. There were two incidents of major burns on different parts of the body, six incidents of minor burns and one involving temporary hearing loss. The recalled Blue Ember liquid propane outdoor grills were sold at various home centers and retailers in the U.S. from November 2006 through June 2008. -- About 1.4 million Buster Brown children's clogs, manufactured in China and distributed by Buster Brown Shoe Co. Inc. of St. Louis and Pagoda International Footwear Ltd. of Hong Kong, because the decorative wheels can detach. The company has received two reports of detached wheels, but no reports of injuries. The recall includes shoes decorated with Barbie, Transformers and characters from the movie "Cars." The shoes were sold at major retailers around the country including Bealls', Famous Footwear, J.C. Penney, Meijer, Rack Room, Sears, Shoe Show, Target and Wal-Mart between August 2007 and June 2009. -- About 30,000 208-volt and 240-volt thermostats, made in Denmark and imported and distributed by OJ Electronics of Chicago, because of a shock risk. No incidents have been reported. The thermostats were sold at home improvement stores, tile shops and other retailers around the country between January 2004 and December 2008. -- About 11,000 Elliptical Cross Trainers, made in China by Stamina Products Inc. of Springfield, Mo. The company is providing new warning and assembly instructions. If the elliptical pedal shafts are not security tightened to the cranks, the pedal shafts could become loose from the cranks, possibly resulting in serious injury to the user and product damage. No incidents or injuries have been reported. The recalled products were sold at various retailers and retail Web sites from October 2007 to May 2009. Consumers are being advised to not assemble or use the machines until they have reviewed the modified warnings and assembly instructions.
