CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) -- After complaining his team lacked emotion in its too-close-for-comfort win over Louisiana-Lafayette, Illinois coach Ron Zook says his team had one of its best practices in a while on Monday.
The 22nd-ranked Illini barely held on to beat the Ragin' Cajuns 20-17 on Saturday.
Zook says it's tough to stay focused and revved up week after week.
But he doesn't understand why, given that teams play only play 12 or 13 times a year.
Zook says he thinks he and his staff may have put too much pressure on his team this season after last year's surprise trip to the Rose Bowl.
The Illini are 2-1, and they're off this week. They start Big Ten play on September 27th at 16th-ranked Penn State.
